National Vegetarian Week 2006

How it went

Thank you for making National Vegetarian Week 2006 well marked in the Thames Valley! We hope you had as much fun as we did.

The Art Competition was really well responded to and we had some lovely entries in all age groups. Winning entries will up in ShakeAway in Union Street (Smelly Ally) in Reading for the next week. Peter Kayes, a Reading Councillor and Vice-Chair Education and Children's Services Scrutiny Panel, was our excellent judge and took the job very seriously.

It was the best food we've ever had at Iguana on Thursday, completely delicious. And they got the hang of the idea that Thames Valley Veggies like to try everything! Many great works of art were produced that night adorning the walls for the admiration of all, and for the Art Competition.

NVW 2006 food fair The Free Food & Inspiration Fair had hundreds of people tasting and talking and a fatastically dedicated team of supporters, working seriously hard to keep food supply up with demand, which was huge! Sometimes the crowd wass 5 people deep all round our 5 tables. The food was delicious, particularly the home made yummies and those donated by local restaurants (Cafe Iguana, Kathmandu Kitchen & Sweet Masala). The wonderful samples donated by manufacturers went down a treat too!

The info stall down Broad Street the same day was also a great success.

Thank you so much to all our sponsors and supporters!

Full write-up will be on this website by the end of half-term (time for a break - and another event!).

Congratulations everyone - we're a group to be proud of!

Initial posting

Thames Valley Vegans and Vegetarians (T3V) are really going to town this year for National Vegetarian Week. We have events throughout the week of 22-28th May, a time for celebration of veggie eating.

Our events are open to everyone, so just contact us if you would like to join in in any way. The Free Food Fair is a great time to come along and chat to people about the practicalities and delights of veggie and vegan eating. We're friendly and fun, so just say hello and have a taste of whatever takes your fancy.
